[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Lluc Mir (Palma de Mallorca 1977) is a stone craftsman on the island of Mallorca who continues with the tradition of dry stone construction, which is so characteristic of the Balearic Islands.<\/p>\n

Having studied at the Escola de Margers del Consell de Mallorca between 1998 and 2000, where he learnt the basic techniques of the trade as a “marger” or dry stonemason at the hand of two masters, he continued his education in the Art\u00edfexBalear trade school where he studied stereotomy and stone carving.<\/p>\n

He has taken part in various TV programmes. In 2011, he took part in the documentary \u201cL\u2019Obra d\u2019un Gegant<\/a>\u201d directed by his brother Antoni Mir, which included appearances from Michael Douglas and Andrew Lloyd Webber, among others. The film is a tribute to the Tramuntana Range, to its unique dry stone landscape, and helped to support its nomination as a Unesco Heritage of Humanity, which was eventually granted.<\/p>\n

As a member of the Stone Foundation<\/a>, he has taken part as an instructor in different workshops conducted in Mallorca and California teaching other professionals worldwide specific techniques for dry stone construction as it is done in Mallorca.<\/p>\n
